Assistant to the Provost
"There are many different ways to contribute and many funds available. There are certainly funds that anybody within the University can find that really pulls at their own personal heartstrings."
After growing up in Ohio, Holly Schoenherr moved to Tampa, Florida with her husband in the Fall of 2000. Holly was hired in the Provost's Office, an area she has continued to work in for the past six years. As the Assistant to the Provost Holly handles special projects, specifically anything that has to do with facilities and space on campus. "I am involved as we try to plan for new academic buildings, any type of renovations that we need to do to improve our classrooms or our laboratories, and also find space for our growing departments and colleges." Holly also oversees the executive searches within her areas, in addition to handling non faculty personnel issues and policy decisions that have to do with USPS and A&P personnel.
Holly's involvement within the University is not limited to Academic Affairs, "Shortly after I came to the University, I was asked to represent Academic Affairs for the Faculty & Staff Campaign for the University of South Florida. I was not very familiar with what the Faculty & Staff Campaign was, but fortunately with that role I was able to learn a great deal, about all of the different funds and scholarships that that Campaign funded, and the opportunity for staff to contribute." Through her involvement with the Campaign Holly became familiar with opportunities that exist for employees to give to the USF fund of his / her choice, "There are so many different ways to contribute, and though I have always given towards staff scholarships, I know there are many other funds available. There are so many opportunities that anybody within the University can find something that really pulls at their own personal heartstrings."
Holly feels that giving to USF is a way to demonstrate support for the University, "I think it is important for employees to recognize the benefits that they have gotten from being on staff at the University, and if the University is going to continue to grow, and pro deopportunities and jobs for it's employees, then it is important for us to do our part to make that happen."
