The Faculty & Staff Campaign for the University of South Florida is a fundraising effort that allows you, the employees of USF, to make a gift to the area of your choice at the University. These gifts stay at USF, and make a lasting impact in each area that you choose to support.
Lori Matthews Administrative Assistant Joint Military Leadership Center

"By working here I get to see up close and personal within my work area what is needed. It helps me to see the program from the inside out, and it makes me want to be able to help, through my personal giving".

Lori Matthews is inspired to give to USF because she sees the results of giving in her daily life. "I get to see up close and personal within my work area what is needed. It helps me to see from the inside out and it makes me want to be able to help." And Lori has been able to help. Her philanthropic involvement with USF started when she came to USF in 2000, and continues every year, because she feels that it is easy to do and because she feels that there are many opportunities for giving at USF. "There are so many different things here at USF, I sometimes have a hard time figuring out where I want to give the money, because there are so many really good funds out there, there are scholarship funds, there are lots of ways you can help students, and the University is always growing." Lori has also seen the results of giving in her own life. As a student working on her Communications degree, Lori applied for and received the Faculty & Staff Scholarship, which awarded her money for books and other student fees. Receiving that award impacted Lori, and inspired her to give back to the scholarship fund "...I decided that was a good place to give money, because there are a lot of other people like me, and I had received funds from the University"..., and so in giving back she was able to provide that same opportunity for other employees.

Lori feels that using the payroll deduction giving option is the way to go, because it allows you to spread out the payment of your gift. She feels that when it is taken directly from your paycheck, you do not miss the money, but it allows you to make an impact, because, "Giving $5 every pay period can be significant to a program."
