The Faculty & Staff Campaign for the University of South Florida is a fundraising effort that allows you, the employees of USF, to make a gift to the area of your choice at the University. These gifts stay at USF, and make a lasting impact in each area that you choose to support.
Charles Spielberger, Ph.D. Distinguished Research Professor of Psychology College of Arts & Sciences

"The University of South Florida has been very supportive of my research, and I am very pleased to be able to give back to this outstanding institution by helping us attract the best students to our doctoral programs in psychology."

Dr. Spielberger's illustrious career began at Duke University in 1955. Before coming to USF in 1972, he taught at Vanderbilt and FSU. "I have seen USF grow into one of the top universities in the nation," he said. Dr. Spielberger's research, which includes his development of the most widely used international measures of anxiety and anger, has brought significant recognition to USF's Psychology Department and the University.

Dr. Spielberger's gifts to the USF Foundation are directed to the Psychology department, providing funding for doctoral student scholarships. He feels that "Enhancing doctoral student stipends makes the University more attractive to outstanding potential students, and helps to convince them to visit our campus and eventually fall in love with the University of South Florida."

As Dr. Spielberger points out, "With the help and guidance of the USF Foundation and Dr. Emanuel Donchin, Chair of the Psychology Department, we were able to direct my gift to where it was most needed."
