Pam and Les Muma

USF Alumni and philanthropists, Les and Pam Muma have played an integral role in advancing the USF: Unstoppable Campaign through their commitment of time talent and treasure to their alma mater. Both have contributed countless hours as volunteers and donated millions of dollars to the university because they believe that USF is the “right place, doing the right things at the right time.”

“The University of South Florida gave us the background to get to where we are personally and professionally,” said Les, who serves as Chair of the USF: Unstoppable campaign. Giving back to USF is natural to us. Our support of Athletics, USF Health and Business is every bit of rewarding as we expected it to be. But we also give back because it’s the right thing to do and it feels right.”

The Mumas said this campaign is vital to the future of the university as it will dictate the next chapter of USF successes and milestones. “This campaign will take the university to that next level,” said Les.” “It will point us in the direction of the AAU (Association of American Universities) and put us on track to reach the goals that this great administration has put forth.”

Pam said the fact that the campaign began on the heels of USF’s 50th Anniversary is very fitting because of what it means for the future of USF. “This campaign paves the way for the next half century for USF and it’s an honor to influence that through our support.”

The Mumas believe as alumni, who live in the Tampa Bay community, they see, every day, the direct result of the importance of having a university of USF’s caliber in the region. “I don’t think any large community can be successful without a major institution for higher learning like USF. This is a place where tremendous leaders come from, who will influence Tampa Bay’s future,” said Les.

“The fact that USF has fundraised almost $500 million toward this campaign is nothing shy of spectacular,” added Pam. “It also says a lot about the alumni and friends who are investing in USF.”

“You look at this group of people who fill the pages of this annual report and they are a living example of the fact that if we are successful in life, we have a moral obligation to give back,” said Les. “USF is a family. And if you give something to it, you are part of that family and it gives so much back in return.”

The Mumas credit much of the university’s success to maturing alumni who have reached a point in life where they have the ability to give back and make a difference. “We have the right people and we have the right product, and this is a great place to invest,” said Les.
